My partner and I had a lovely stay in Amsterdam. We chose to stay in the CitizenM Amsterdam Amstel Hotel, as we like the CitizenM brand, this being our 3 hotel in the chain.
We expected exactly what we got with CitizenM, so there were no surprises when we checked in.
The hotel is in a very good location, around a 5 minute walk from the train station. And close to restaurants and shops. We were advised that this hotel was the first in the chain to be built, and it didn't feel that way, apart from the shower, as they have now updated this since this hotel.
The only thing we cannot work out is the air conditioning in the room. The air conditioning seems to be sporadic...in the sense that it doesn't always work. Even though according to the iPad that the thermostat is down at the lowest setting! This didn't ruin our stay or put us off booking another stay in a CitizenM hotel, in fact we have booked a stay in the London Tower Bridge for February 2019. Its safe to say we are fans of this hotel chain!
As 'Citizens' of the hotel, we thought a free drink token was provided on arrival, however we didn't get this when staying in Amsterdam. We do now know if this is due to the age of the hotel and this feature is not available. But again this didn't ruin our stay.
Overall we had a good stay in a pretty city.
As a couple it's an amazing place to stay in Amsterdam! The room was unusual but perfect... We enjoyed a lot the huge bed, the shower and the connectivity. And we've been positively surprised by the breakfast!
We really enjoyed our stay at CitizenM Amsterdam South. The staff was excellent, especially Troy and Oscar were trully helpful. Thank you so much!!! We will stay there again, especially in Amsterdam.
The rooms were too small for two people but everything else made up for that. We felt at home and taken care of. Troy and Oscar noticed we needed assistance before we asked. We're very impressed and will be singing CitizenM praises for a looong time!!!!!
This place is cool, quirky and differentiated. It has the feel of HUB by Premier Inn in the UK.
Firstly, it’s only a 15 to 20 minute rid from Schipol airport, ie cheap and fast to get to.
The staff are ultra friendly and are happy to go out of their way to help.
The rooms are quirky, and are “intelligent”.
Everything from the TV, Blinds, and lighting are controlled from an iPad.
The bed fills completely one end of the room. The toilet and shower are pods within the room. The room is compact and bijou with mood lighting!
The TV has UK TV channels, thank goodness. Plus all the movies, and I mean all the movies from every genre, are free to watch! For the business traveller, nothing appears on your bill.
The breakfast is great and is a mixture of English and Continental. Dinner was a hot buffet of chicken curry, plus they had smaller snacks like bosher balls or satay chicken that could be ordered at the bar.
They also had a chiller cabinet full of sandwiches, sushi, beers and other drinks that you could buy from throughout the day.
I travel on business, and have never picked a CitizenM brand hotel previously because I saw them targeted at young tourists. What a mistake. Are all Citizen M’s as good as this one?

Quiet rooms, good location nearby big station (train, metro, tram, bus), great staff. Better cleaning needed in the rooms, some billing issues with breakfast. Some hickups with controlling room with ipad/wifi.
Room was very clean and liked the king size bed. Location to public transportation excellent. Easy to get to the airport and the city's center. Customer service was great and very helpful checking in although it's very easy.
Excellent hotel. Check in & out very quick and easy. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was delicious. Rooms are compact but very comfortable. Very good location to the financial district, 5 minute walk.
Close to the train station with the bonus of the train ride being roughly 10 mins away from the airport.I would recommend this hotel!
Everything was nice and clean. I feared the rooms were very small, but that did not happened! The rooms have the right size, they are cozy and "fun". I wish more hotels did this! Also, their workers deserve a five star rating! Keep up the good job!
