Very central, plenty of restaurants nearby. Good safe area to allow a quick stroll at the end of the day. Local bars are numerous and friendly. Well priced hotel. Rooms are clean and practical. Don’t expect any frills.
I simply can’t praise this hotel enough.
Love the simplicity and concept. It is great for a few days when on business. All the are always polite and friendly. Good location in city centre that makes walking about easy.
This modern and classy hotel has many interesting features. Super clean and comfy room - however the lowest the room temp can go is 18C - bit warm for us at night but I'm sure it suits the majority! The room blinds are also a bit temperamental and with the whole room being controlled via I-Pad, the technophobes among us might struggle slightly.
Slightly expensive for what we received - especially as breakfast was not included. In saying that, it was inline with other local hotels of a similar standard.
Communual areas are relaxed and the varying styles allow people from all comfort zones to feel at home. The 24hr canteen is a great idea - providing snacks, hot food and a full bar to guests, no matter what time they arrive. Staff were helpful and friendly from the time we walked in and were on hand if we needed them throughout.
Me and my partner stayed here and the place is just wow. Staff friendly , rooms modern and clean. Easy access as it’s in city centre. Very good vibes and atmosphere throughout the hotel. Bar open till 1am and has plenty to chose from.
100% will be back
I really enjoyed my two night stay here last weekend. The rooms are amazing with the ipad control and mood lighting plus the shower is brilliant. It was disappointing though that there was only one pillow for each person on the bed and as I wasn't feeling well and like to be propped up I went to reception to ask a member of staff for another pillow to which I was told they had no spare pillows because they were fully booked that night.
I find it hard to believe that a worldwide hotel chain like this has just enough pillows for each room and no spare?!
I was also let down with the £12.95 charge for breakfast. For that price I was expecting a large choice of quality items but what was available was pretty basic and not the best considering what you could get elsewhere for cheaper.
Overall I would definitely come back and visit the hotel as the rooms are lovely but would have breakfast elsewhere.
The hotel itself was lovely, we were both so amused by the iPad and being able to control the lights, blinds and heating with it! The only downside was being woken up by a cleaner who couldn’t talk hardly any English, when we explained we would be 10 minutes she couldn’t understand and just kept looking at me and saying “housekeeping”.
We got out the room and came back an hour later and it still wasn’t cleaned! We went out again to come back and I walked in and saw the bed wasn’t made. Luckily the cleaner was outside I tried to ask her why the room wasn’t done yet but she couldn’t understand anything I was saying. The towels were folded but unsure if the room was cleaned as the bed wasn’t even made. But overall it was nice
Myself and my boyfriend stayed here for two nights. We loved the huge bed, the shower, everything about the minimalistic room. There are plenty of movies to watch, a great selection. We will definitely be back!
Having stayed at the London Shoreditch branch of Citizen M we were really keen to try another of these interesting, hi-tech hotels for our stop-over in Glasgow. We weren't disappointed and had the same fantastic experience and great service, along with some local twists.
Firstly, the room - as ever, the room is compact but features everything you could need.
A huge, comfortable bed with lots of storage underneath, a great shower and a fantastic connected TV offering free movies, streaming from your own devices etc. The room is controlled by a tablet: everything from the blinds and curtains to the adjustable mood lighting. While the room is small, it doesn't feel cramped or claustrophobic - the excellent choices of well-designed furniture and fittings mean there's plenty of space to move around.
One of the key concepts at Citizen M is that people won't want to hang around in their rooms much anyway, as they offer a welcoming lounge space. Most hotel lounges are dull and a little uninviting in my experience, but this is pretty special: a large room with different areas devoted to working (with a full suite of Macs and a printer for guest use) a bar area, comfortable nooks and crannies, and more formal tables for working or eating. There was a pleasant buzz about the place even on a quiet bank holiday evening and plenty of friendly, helpful staff. The Canteen M offers a small but well-chosen 24-hour menu of food and drinks, including locally-themed cocktails. We enjoyed a relaxing and very well prepared meal in the lounge during our stay which was very reasonably priced too. We also paid in advance for the breakfast offer which was prepared buffet-style but was fresh and varied, with lots of options and with local touches like haggis and potato scones.
Check-in and out is simple and easy, mostly handled via self-service, but with staff on hand to answer questions and help. Everyone we met was keen to help and really seemed to care that we enjoyed all the facilities on offer and had a great stay. After a recent experience at a rather higher-end hotel where the staff seemed to want to police facilities rather than ensure they were used fully, this was a very welcome change!
On leaving we realised my wife had left an item in the lounge. On contacting the hotel it had already been located, and will soon be back with her. The staff were again, incredibly helpful and understanding. Overall, there's nothing I can fault about our stay - we had the same excellent Citizen M experience, along with a friendly Glasgow welcome! All this for a price comparable with nearby budget hotel chains too.
