If you are relatively young, enjoy gadgets, and are looking for a base close to Tate Modern and The Globe, then this could well be the spot for you.
First of all the plus points: the foyer and bar area is lively, stylish and staffed by young and friendly people who genuinely appear to be committed to ensuring that all of their guests enjoy their stay (it would provide an excellent setting for business meetings); the Ipad controlled room settings worked well, and the free movies were a boon as I was confined to bed for much of my stay with flu.
Why not award the Citizen M five stars then, I hear you asking? Well, for our taste, the room was a little lacking in glamour and comfort.
To be honest, with its pod like bathroom, it felt a little like a Japanese love hotel. Then we come to the bed. Yes, it was massive and comfortable, but the fact that it was built into one end of the room meant that you had to clamber over your partner if you needed to get up in the night. We also found the lack of a coffee machine somewhat disappointing.
Stayed at this hotel for an overnight in London to see Theatre and meal at Oxo Tower. Very different concept but had lovely stay. Check in/out so easy and lobby and bar area fantastic really homely. Only issue would be that shower pod is right next to toilet but I would definitely stay again
Spent a working week at the Citizen M. My first time. Funky and interesting. Really small but functional room.
Quiet and comfortable - took one of the courtyard rooms.
Common areas for working and socializing are really great.
Will be back!
Stayed here last night, my boyfriend booked it as a treat. Very impressed with the hotel and room. Yes the room is a little on the small side but your only sleeping there so is perfect for short stays.
Loved the theme of everything and having the free films was a bonus for something to do. Shower was awesome. Best bit though was the bed, it was amazing having so much room and definitely want a bigger bed at home now. Only downside is our fridge only had 2 bottles of water and from looking at other posts it seems as though there should have been more in there.
The hotel has a cool bar area with a range of seating. The staff were very helpful checking in. The rooms are small but have everything you need. The rooms are controlled by ipad, but the blinds had a mind of their own.
The bed was comfortable but being located at the end of the room the person nearest the window has to climb over to get out, as there's no room around. The location is great being very near the Tate modern. The breakfast was a good quality with lots of choice and decent coffee.
Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. The staff is very friendly. Good atmosphere. Room was good with a huge comfy bed. I loved the bar/lounge. The hotel is close to the tube, the Flat iron market, The Shard, the Borough market and the State modern museum.
There is also a Cycle hire station nearby. I definitely go there again!
Our children gave us an overnight stay at this hotel and an evening at the phantom of the opera for my husband's birthday. We had a wonderful time. The room was a good size and the bathroom great with compIimentary toiletries.
The beds were so comfortable and we both had a good nights sleep. In the morning we went down for breakfast which was superb. All of the staff that we encountered were excellent. We would certainly stay here again.
We have just got back from a stay at this hotel and would thoroughly recommend it. The staff are cheerful and helpful and the whole mode of operating is streamlined and effective. Check-in took seconds and we were able to go straight up our room, which was handy.
The room itself was clean and bright, with everything being operated from an iPad in the room. There were also free films provided for entertainment, which was a nice touch.
The mini bar in the room had a range of complementary snacks and soft drinks which, again, was a thoughtful addition.
There is an ironing room on every floor, should you need it and Reception were even able to provide my partner with a phone charger. They really could not do enough for you and were also happy to store our luggage for us the next day whilst we went sightseeing.
Overall, it was a brilliant experience. We didn’t eat at the hotel but did have several hot drinks which were reasonably priced and good quality. The bar on the ground floor is open at all times.
