A really friendly place to stay, but much classier than a Ny backpackers. Small but perfectly formed rooms, friendly staff good food and coffee. Everything you need and more. Rooms are small but beautifully fitted out and unbelievably quiet, despite a railway line next dour
I was really surprised by this hotel! Tucked away just behind the cool Shoreditch bars and restaurants is quite a big, funky hotel. When you walk through the main entrance you are greeted with a cool vibe.
It’s modern, crisp, chilled out.
The bar area is great - it has a small outdoor terrace too.
The rooms are a refreshing change - everything from the air on to the curtains are controlled by one device. The room is only the width of a double bed, but that doesn’t matter because the bathroom pod design gives it a feeling of space.
I loved my stay! I wouldn’t want to share the room because the bathroom layout lacks privacy and the double bed is awkward for two - it’s sideways on against the back wall and sandwiched perfectly between the side walls at the headboard and foot of the bed so you’d need to climb over one another to get in and out.
I chose this hotel because it was close to where my friend lives. I was not disappointed. I arrived exhausted a few hours before check in time and they were able to get me a room. It ended up being a handicap room which was fine as long as I had a room.
The rooms are small but functional and clean. The only thing they could use is more storage space for clothes and your suitcase. It says you could store your suitcase in the drawer beneath your bed but I don’t know what suitcase would fit there. Anyway, the bed is very comfortable and the use of the iPad to control everything is great. They have amazing electric blackout shades as well. The decor of the hotel is pretty cool. The lobby is comfortable and the staff is friendly. The food I had for a quick bite was good and the cappuccino they made was excellent. I definitely recommend this hotel.
Overnight stay, very impressed with facilities at CitizenM Shoreditch. Embassadors very helpful and friendly. Location is also good, only a few minutes walk to many bars and restaurants. Will definitely stay at Citizen again.
Very nice hotel experiences from check in, breakfast and services was very good. The only thing that was not good was the cleaning of my room where i had hair in the shower room for both days i stayed there.
Super friendly staff, beds to die for, stunning decor, great variety for breakfast, only downside was not much choice for food in tolerances but the service, cleanliness and comfort made up for that.
Not the cheapest but an easy to use hotel right in the centre of the hustle and bustle. Our second time staying at a citizenm London hotel, back next month to try out Bankside!!
Used to live in London in the past so I was looking for hotel in a good area (shoreditch, close to old street). It was my first time staying at CitizenM chain and I must admit m, it was Love it first sight.
The check in was super smooth and quick and they accommodated my request to marge two reservations i had so I dont have to check out and in again.
The room was small but it had everything i needed in it, in the most compact way. It was also super quiet too. Oh and it’s a smart room operated by iPad (you must try the alarm / wake up).
The bar downstairs was the perfect way to end the day and I can’t even tell you how excited I was to see that they had some gluten free + vegan sweets options.
The location of it is perfect and on the center of everything - for dining go to Dishoom and pizza East. Don’t miss Bricklane market on the Sunday for amazing vintage stores and food markets .
I will definitely come back to this hotel on my next visit to London. Can’t wait.
I feel like the owners of the Citizen M brand must have had a board meeting at some point to get back to the nitty gritty of what a traveller actually wants in a hotel room...
1. A quiet room - tick.
My colleague was next door and apologised over text if I could hear her tv, genuinely thought she’d already gone to bed as it was silent. She didn’t hear me dry my hair moments before also. The rooms are also triple glazed so no outside noise either.
2. An easy booking process - tick. No faffy rates and this room has a 3/4 bed but this has a king but if you have a room with a king you can’t have a bath etc etc etc. It’s one bed, (it’s HUGE, you can sleep on it whichever way you prefer) and one glorious rainfall shower. Simple.
3. No queuing to check in after a long day travelling, sweaty and tired trying to rummage around for your purse in your bag whilst carrying all your worldly possessions... tick. The check in process is automated, you type your surname, you load your own room key and off you go. There’s someone there if you need it but it’s painfully simple.
4. A good nights sleep - definite tick! The bed was comfy, the room silent, the temperature can be controlled via the iPad, but it’s not air con that blows and is noisy and feels like you’re getting an arctic blast it just moderates the room temperate to a comfortable level. I felt secure as the door double locked and you need a room key to get up to the bedroom levels in the lift and the black out blind (which can be controlled by the comfort of your bed with the iPad as well) actually does what it says on the tin, I woke up at 7am and it could’ve easily been 2am (much to my disappointment!)
Of course there is the added extras which make the stay a whole lot more enjoyable, movies on demand, you can stream Netflix from your own phone to the tv easy as anything, mood lighting, the iPad controls which make you feel like you’re part of a Black Mirror episode and the mini fridge as standard with complimentary water are all very much welcome.
Overall I would stay here again 100%, in fact I would actively hunt out a citizen m hotel if there was one where I was going. Compact, clean, modern and comfortable. Unless you’re a technophobe (then maybe this one isn’t for you) I can’t fault it and don’t think you could either.
